Drink a few too many at happy hour? Arriving soon to San Diego is BLAXi, a new on-demand designated driver service that'll drive you home, in your own car.
The free app, which will first be available for iOS with an Android version to follow, will send two tuxedo T-shirted BLAXi drivers to your location; one driver will drive your car home while the other follows in a BLAXi car, saving you from having to return to pick up your car from wherever you've parked it the next day. The drivers will arrive within 10 to 15 minutes of being called or you can pre-schedule a ride up to six hours ahead of time.
BLAXi charges riders based on mileage and says that prices will be comparable to Lyft and Uber; their cars will also be available for use as standard ride-sharing services. This month, BLAXi plans to debut here and in Los Angeles and San Francisco, with the aim of being available in every major city by the end of the year; a just-posted Indiegogo campaign is raising funds to help with the San Diego launch.
