All the Rumors About Top Chef Filming in San Diego

Including a possible San Diego chef-competitor.

Since we first broke the news about San Diego's part in the upcoming season of Top Chefwhich will feature a handful of other West Coast cities including Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, San Francisco and Oakland, Eater readers have been asking us which local faces and places would be included on the show.

Juniper & Ivy's Richard Blais, a Top Chef judge, is keeping quiet about specific San Diego components but our tipline has been rife with rumors. We're hearing that the crew did film at Juniper & Ivy and that Top Chef host Tom Colicchio and possible guest judge (?) Emeril Lagasse both dined at the Little Italy restaurant in recent weeks. Javier Plascencia, who will hopefully open his much-anticipated Bracero by the end of the month, is reportedly also featured, as is San Diego's unparalleled craft beer industry.

But perhaps the most exciting tip to come Eater's way is the rumor that a well-regarded local chef has been cast for Top Chef season 13 and is currently competing on the show. Do you have a guess about who our San Diego representative is? Have you heard a rumor about what and who else was filmed? Did you see the cast shopping through Whole Foods or running down the beach? Send in your tips, big or small, via our contact page, which promises to keep you anonymous.
