Baja Beer & Food Night at Panama 66; Old Harbor Distilling Rum Release

Plus, El Agave adds new lunchtime taco menu.

BALBOA PARK— This Saturday, June 27, Panama 66 is getting a boost from Baja; Tijuana's Cerveceria Insurgente will be in the house with six of their beers on tap, including the Nocturna Black IPA, Tiniebla Witbier and a coffee version of La Lupulosa IPA. On the menu will be Baja-inspired tacos and the Gilbert Castellanos Latin Jazz Quintet is scheduled to play live from 6 to 7:45 p.m. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE— Old Harbor Distilling Co.'s follow-up release to its already-classic San Miguel Southwestern Gin is Barrelflag Navy Strength Rum. Distilled from black strap molasses, pure cane juice, and premium grade molasses, it's impressively smooth for being a fiery 114 proof spirit. Bottles should be on store shelves soon, but be among the first to taste it at The White Flag's next party, this Saturday, June 27 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Quartyard; earlier in the day, Old Harbor's founder/distiller Michael Skubic will also be leading an educational session on gin at Saturday's Distilled craft spirits festival at the San Diego County Fair.
