AleSmith Brewing Company's new Miramar production brewery, coming in at over 100,000-square-feet and currently under construction at 9990 Empire Street, won't be ready until late summer, but the brewery has opened a temporary tasting room at the site for those curious to check out the project's progress.
Dubbed the Observation Room, it houses 12 taps that pour their 11 core beers plus a rotating special release, plus some retail merchandise. Open Monday through Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., the Observation Room also has renderings on view that give a preview of what the finished tasting room will look like in the completed brewery, which will also encompass a beer garden and a museum to honor Tony Gwynn. When the company pulls up stakes at their original facility in Miramar, Denmark's Mikkeller will move in to partner with the San Diego brewery on a new collaboration.
