Cocktail Classes at Polite Provisions & Trader Joe's Picks Up Local Salumi

NORMAL HEIGHTS— Polite Provisions' Erick Castro is kicking off the next edition of Spirit Society, his cocktail education series, on Monday, June 22 at 6 p.m. with Cocktail 101, a two hour class on cocktail basics that includes three cocktails and hands-on instruction on how to make them. AROUND TOWN— Local chef Pete Balistreri, whose eponymous P. Balistreri Salumi is on the menu at all Tender Greens in California and retailed various San Diego markets, including Venissimo Cheese and Mona Lisa Italian Foods, has hit the big time by being picked up by Trader Joe's. Both his Salami Point Loma (rosemary and garlic ) and chili flake and fennel salumi are now available at all Trader Joe's locations in the San Diego region, featured in their section of locally-made products.
