There's chatter on Chowhound about the impending shutter of Alfonso's of La Jolla, which has occupied a prime spot on Prospect Street for more than 40 years.
You still have a few more months to partake in Alfonso's Mexican menu; the eatery doesn't shutter until October. The owner intends to relocate to a new neighborhood (speculation includes Hillcrest, North Park and City Heights) but the restaurant says that a location has yet to be identified.
UPDATE: The nachos are here to stay. Alfonso's owner Jorge Fierro tells Eater that plans have changed and that the restaurant will remain in its original location.
