Landing in the East Village by the end of April is the new neighborhood namesake E.Vil Donuts. Owner Dante Rowley opened Rosewood, a limited-edition sneaker consignment shop and gallery on Market Street in 2013 and is bringing an all-day doughnut shop to 565 Park Boulevard, along the trolley line.
The 1,200-square-foot space will have indoor, and eventually outdoor, seating and be decked out with a custom mural of doughnut-eating comic book super villains floating above the San Diego skyline.
Rowley says E.Vil Donuts will fry up traditional and seasonal doughnut flavors, from margarita with lime and salt to bacon and their version of the Cronut; a signature treat will be custom ice cream/doughnut sandwiches, made with house-churned ice cream. They'll also serve coffee, juice and different kinds of flavored milk.
Some sort of late-night doughnut service is planned but yet undecided; E.Vil Donuts will either keep the storefront open late or deliver their treats via golf cart to the downtown crowd.
