Circa's First Anniversary & a Foodie Book Fest in South Park

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS— Circa, which opened in the former Farm House Cafe space last April, is celebrating its first anniversary with two family-style communal table feasts scheduled for 6:30 p.m. this Wednesday and Thursday. Chef/owner Mike Almos is preparing a multi-course dinner for $35/pp that will include platters of cast iron fried Jidori chicken, flat iron steak with red ale gravy and goat cheese-green bean casserole. SOUTH PARK— The Grove will honor Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, May 2 with food and gardening-themed books and activities, including a talk from author Maria Desiderata Montana (San Diego Chef's Table), a tasting of salsas and moles from chef Deborah Schneider, a seed and plant discussion with Maurice Taitano-Bliss of Urban Seeds, and a workshop on drawing food led by San Diegan Angie Brenner (Anatolian Days and Nights: My Love Affair With Turkey).
