Here Are Five New Food & Drink Openings in San Diego

From new sushi to a brewery and a bakery.

RANCHO BERNARDO— The owners of Love Boat Sushi, who opened Blue Ocean in Carlsbad and converted their Love Boat in Fashion Valley to Blue Smoke, recently remodeled their Love Boat Sushi outpost in Rancho Bernardo and renamed it Big Bang Sushi. The newly-modernized space is still serving much of the original menu, but a new addition is an all-you-can-eat sushi option, available at lunch or dinner. [EaterWire]

PACIFIC BEACH— A tipster told us that Sugar & Scribe's former location on Garnet Avenue has been filled with PB Bakery and Cafe. The Italian-influenced bakery specializes in pastries, cookies, tarts and custom cakes and will be expanding into a savory menu of breakfast and sandwiches. [EaterWire]

EASTLAKE— new brewery and tasting room with 13 taps is now open in Chula Vista. According to WestCoasterNOVO Brazil Brewing CO. has ties to an established Brazilian brewery; among its debut beers are Chula Pils, Copacabana Blond and the sessionable Cacau IPA. [Facebook]

PACIFIC BEACH— Board & Brew, which first opened in Del Mar in 1979 and has locations spanning from Scripps Ranch and Carlsbad to Orange County, has expanded its popular sandwich shop to 4516 Mission Boulevard. As of now, the "brew" is unavailable, but we hear that they'll be serving craft beer soon. [EaterWire]

GRANTVILLE— A reader alerted us to The PurpleMint Bistro, which just opened at 6171 Mission Gorge Road. The eatery specializes in an all-vegetarian Vietnamese menu that also features vegan-friendly variations on noodle soups, egg rolls and more. [Eaterwire]
