Sadly, San Diegans have just a few more weeks to enjoy Sam Burman's handicraft at the Grant Grill. Burman joined the downtown restaurant last year and as chef de cuisine, helped propel it onto the latest edition of the Eater 38.
The chef, who previously worked with the Whisknladle Hospitality group and before that, spent a decade cooking in Chicago, has shared with Eater that he will be heading back to the Windy City. Burman writes, "I would like to thank all of San Diego for their hospitality over the last six years. This city will always hold a special place in my heart. The local community of farmers and producers have taught me so much, and I will forever be thankful. My family and I have made the decision to move back to Chicago. With the recent birth of our son we want to be closer to our family. I will also be working on a very special project there, however that is the only detail I can give for now. Here's wishing everyone happy eating!"
