Shanghai Saloon Swings Open Next to Dumpling Inn

Craft beer, whiskey and Asian-inpired snacks, available late-night.

The late evening accompaniment to Dumping Inn is now up and running at 4625 Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa. Shanghai Saloon, which shares the 9,000-square-foot space with the recently-transplanted and hugely popular eatery, has its own menu, available from 4 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

The lounge and bar is offering Asian-inspired plates that range from pork belly steamed bun sliders to spicy or pepper-fried wings and Chinese sausage sticky rice. There's also a cross-cultural Szechaun-influenced menudo and straightforward fish and chips. A few signature items from Dumpling Inn's menu, including the potstickers and fried beef curry dumplings, can also be ordered in the lounge.

The Saloon's 30 craft beers are $2 off during two happy hour sessions, Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The weekend happy hour also includes $5 Bloody Marys and $5 sake sangria. The bar also features wines by the glass, craft cocktails and a variety of sake and spirits.
