LITTLE ITALY— The monthly Chef's Table dinners at Kettner Exchange, which are limited to an intimate eight seats, are a showcase for seasonal ingredients in the capable and creative hands of the kitchen, led by executive chef Brian Redzikowski. The next dinner, scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, starts with a welcome cocktail from beverage director Steven Tuttle and includes five courses that range from asparagus and morels with oxtail and parmesan to whole roasted foie gras with red onion marmalade and Humbolt Fog panna cotta, with each dish deftly paired with wine by sommelier Jonathan Brennan. Call (619) 255-2001 to reserve. [EaterWire]
SAN DIEGO BAY— Next month, Flagship Cruises & Events is launching two new food and drink-themed cruises; starting Friday, May 15 and reoccurring every Friday at 7 p.m. is Hops on the Harbor, a dinner cruise that will feature a different local craft brewery every month. Kicking things off in May is Stone Brewing Co.; the two and a half hour cruise includes welcome champagne, two beer tastings, dinner and live music, with addition craft beers and beer flights available for purchase. Spirits at Sunset sets sail on Friday, May 22 and will be offered every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. going forward; the two hour sunset tour around the harbor features champagne and light hors d’oeuvres, including a build-your-own bruschetta bar, and a no-host bar with local craft beer, wine and cocktails. POINT LOMA— A tipster tells us that the long-dormant space at 1005 Rosecrans Street that was once home to Brian Malarkey's Gabardine will now be a new Vietnamese restaurant. A posted sign says that Seaside Pho & Grill is on the way. [EaterWire]
