CARLSBAD— Temecula's Bushfire Grill expands into North County with a related concept, Bushfire Kitchen, which opens in Carlsbad’s La Costa Town Square today. The fast-casual eatery makes nearly everything in house, including the hamburger buns for their organic grass fed beef burgers made with house-ground meat. The menu also includes salads, rice bowls, rotisserie-grilled antibiotic-free chicken and more, plus local beer and wine. A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, when all draft beers and wine will be $1 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. [EaterWire]

VISTA— Ian Smith, who owned the dearly departed Swoon Dessert Bar in North Park, is now the executive chef at the newly debuted Partake Gastropub in Vista, which positions itself as a place to find "cult wines, cult beers, and seasonally changing and locally sourced foods to pair them with". Smith's inaugural menu includes salads, sandwiches, flatbreads and steak frites with house cut duck fat fries. And you can't skip desserts. His include vanilla ricotta beignets with oranges and smoked chocolate mousse, marshmallow fluff and graham cracker crumbs. [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN— An Eater reader noticed a flurry of construction at Salvatore's Cucina Italiana, which has been open since the late 80s. According to their Facebook page, the restaurant suffered some significant water damage and is currently shuttered for reconstruction; they're planning on reopening in mid-April. [EaterWire]
