Organic Grocery Drops Out of Little Italy Expansion

The Hanson's Market space is back up for grabs.

Little Italy residents have been eagerly waiting for Hanson's Market to take shape at Ariel Suites (701 W. Beech Street), where the natural and organic grocery store had intended to occupy the space between Pan Bon and the soon-to-debut Bracero.

In December, the San Clemente-based market posted a Facebook update, sharing the plans for the two story layout that included a street level grocery and breakfast/juice bar and an upper level dining area and deli with beer and wine on tap.

It was slated to open this month, but construction has been at a standstill and sharp-eyed Eater readers noticed signs posted indicating that the site was back up for lease. Eater has confirmed that Hanson's is no longer happening in this spot — the rumor is the market did not have the capital to complete the space.

Colliers International has listed the 9,953-square-foot, two level space, whose entrance sits on a prime stretch of Kettner Boulevard and includes on-site parking.
