Soft opening Tuesday is Oceana Coastal Kitchen, The Catamaran' Resort and Spa's signature restaurant that just emerged from a multi-million dollar transformation.
Formerly Atoll Restaurant, Oceana now spans 8,200-square-feet, with a main dining room dominated by a 800-gallon aquarium, a 25-foot-long cold bar where seafood towers will be constructed, oysters plated and sushi rolls made, plus private dining rooms, a waterfront patio and an adjacent tiki torch-decorated lounge.
Oceana Coastal Kitchen's dinner menu, from executive chef Steven Riemer (The Lodge at Torrey Pines and The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel) is described as "chef-driven California cuisine", with emphasis on the cold bar items and seasonal entrees that are a mix of seafood and land-based proteins. Lunch ranges from salad bowls to sandwiches, including a rendition of the much-loved Drugstore Burger from the Evans Hotels-owned sister property, The Lodge at Torrey Pines.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, there's a daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. with specials on appetizers, wine, and craft beer, including their signature brew, the Oceana Pale Ale made collaboration with Karl Strauss. The tropical-inspired cocktails range from two versions of mai tais to a Hemingway daiquiri.
