Phil's BBQ Extends Hours & New Smoothies for North Park

AROUND TOWN— After 17 years, Phil’s BBQ will finally open on Mondays. All locations of the eatery, from Point Loma to San Marcos and Santee, are now open seven days a week for eat in, take-out and catering orders from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, starting today. NORTH PARK— A tipster tells us that a new smoothie/juice bar called Smooth Operator has opened at 4111 30th Street just steps away from RipCurrent's new tasting roomThe menu features juice or milk-based smoothies, fruit and vegetable blends, plus salads, sandwiches and breakfast items. [Facebook]

ENCINITAS— This Wednesday, February 18 at 6 p.m., the Lumberyard Tavern will relaunch their 101 Whiskey Club with free membership and a series of monthly events that'll feature different whiskey tastings and drink specials. This week's featured spirit is Templeton Rye Whiskey, with $5 Old Fashioneds on offer. Members who sample their way through the 40 whiskeys and scotches on Lumberyard's list will be entered to win a trip to Kentucky. [EaterWire]
