UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS— Starting next month, Cueva Bar will launch a four-part Meet the Brewer series that will highlight different local breweries and the creative tapas from chef/owner Osvaldo Blackaller. On Saturday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Chef Oz will offer a tapas and beer pairing featuring Sorrento Valley's New English Brewing Company; brewmaster Simon Lacey is scheduled to be at the restaurant from noon to 3 p.m. [EaterWire]

CORONADO— A reader tipped us to a new fast-casual pizza entry set to open any day now in Coronado. Fire + Fly Artisan Pizza replaces Alexander’s Pizza and boasts a stone hearth oven that will bake up a pizza in less two minutes. The locally-owned quick-service pizzeria will offer 11-inch signature pies or customizable options. [eCoronado]
