Liberty Station Walkabout & Yard House Permanently Shutters Downtown

Plus, Table No. 10's chef lands a new gig.

LIBERTY STATION— Take a turn on Liberty Station's new ice skating rink and stroll the development while sipping and snacking on complimentary food and drink on Saturday, December 12 during the first quarterly walkabout event from 6 to 9 p.m.. The holiday-themed evening will include preview bites from incoming eateries Fireside by The Patio and Buona Forchetta, as well as edible goodies from Soda & Swine, Slater's 50/50 and The Loma Club. DOWNTOWN— The Yard House has announced that it will permanently close its downtown location, which has been open since 2003 at the corner of 4th and Broadway; the restaurant was temporarily shuttered last month after a massive sewage leak in the building. In September, the company open a new outpost in Westfield Mission Valley. [EaterWire]

AROUND TOWN— Eater readers have been asking us to catch up with Jason Gethin, chef/owner of the sadly shuttered Table No. 10 in East Village. Gethin, who was formerly executive chef at Union Kitchen + Tap in Encnitas, has been hired back as a consultant for the OMG group, which also runs Union Kitchen + Tap in the Gaslamp, Backyard Kitchen + Tap and Pacific Beach Alehouse. He help roll out seasonal menus and assist the hospitality group's kitchen teams with recipe development. [Eaterwire]
