The holiday season is bringing some not-so-merry. Two years after first debuting its Belgian and Belgian-inspired beer and cuisine in South Park, Brabant Bar & Cafe will close; the neighborhood hangout, which launched in Fall 2013, will shutter at the end of December. Over the weekend, owner Adam Parker took to Facebook to make the following announcement.
It is with a heavy heart but heads held high that we announced Brabant Bar & Cafe will close its doors on Wednesday, December 30th. We are blessed to have been welcomed by the great neighborhood of South Park, and are constantly humbled by our repeat customers, new friends, and the accolades we have stumbled into along the way. It is with the greatest pride that we have served fine Belgian ales in the proper way alongside our traditional and inspired Belgian cuisine. Moons ago, the only Belgian-style ales you could find brewed locally were from only the most daring and clandestine outfits, yet today in San Diego we find it commonplace that our amazing breweries are consistently using these wonderful beers as inspiration for their own creations; we couldn't be happier that low-country culture is now becoming a common part of San Diego life!Pop in over the next few weeks for some holiday cheer, your favorite Belgian brew, and a hearty helping of Belgian grub; we’ll be providing the same great mussels, sausage and suds you’ve come to love at Brabant- right up until the minute the door closes! Belgian-style beer and Belgian cuisine are together one of the most magical and rewarding experiences you could ever hope to enjoy, and it has been our great privilege to serve them since 2013. We have savored each sip, are grateful for every toast, and hope nothing but the best for our beloved neighborhood of South Park. Warmest Regards -The Brabant Family
