After a long period of dormancy, we now know what's replacing Nicky Rotten's in the Gaslamp. 1919, which references the year of the World Series' Black Sox scandal, will open in the burger joint's space by February 2016. Owners Treehouse Hospitality also run Nicky Rotten's in Coronado, the newly-opened Music Box venue on India Street and Prohibition, the speakeasy beneath 1919.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., with a weekend brunch that kicks off at 9 a.m., the new sports bar will serve comfort food and keep its kitchen open until a precise 1:19 a.m. The bar menu will feature a pickle back program, with housemade pickle back and shot pairings that include Woodford Rye with a strawberry pickle back and Herradura Reposado with a pineapple-jalapeño pickle back.
Inside, the setup will include 25 HD TVs with a unique sound program that allows patrons to link up their phones to a specific game that's showing on a particular screen and listen at their own table with headphones or a speaker. In an upstairs lounge, 1919 also plans to host live music.
