A very kind tipster told us that the Cohn Restaurant Group has another project in the works for La Mesa, where the prolific restaurateurs opened BO-beau kitchen + garden in 2013. In a 2,400-square-foot space adjacent BO-beau, the CRG is building an arcade bar called COIN HAUS that's scheduled to open in Summer 2016.
Undoubtedly inspired by Coin-Op Game Room and Barrel Republic, it'll be stocked with 50 self-serve beer taps and retro games — think Donkey Kong and Frogger — curated by Scott Helstrom, who runs the Gamers Garage at the Corvette Diner. The restaurant group's designer-in-residence Philippe Beltran (BO-Beau kitchen + bar, Draft Republic, Indigo Grill) will be doing the interior.
In a statement, CRG founder David Cohn said, "La Mesa has always been a special place for us and it’s exciting to be part of the community’s growth as a dining destination. As BO-Beau kitchen + garden did back in 2013, we hope COIN HAUS will help to further La Mesa’s reputation as an up-and-coming culinary and entertainment neighborhood."
