Best Bets For San Diego Beer Week; Here's Where We'll Be

Plan your drinking accordingly.

One of our favorite times of the year is here; the seventh annual San Diego Beer Weekruns November 6 to 15, ten beer-soaked days and nights of celebration at bars and restaurants over the county. The SDBW website aims to help you navigate the gauntlet with updated calendar features that can be sorted by date, region, time and type of event but it's a dizzying list, so here are our suggestions for where to drink and/or eat every day of Beer Week if you choose to be so ambitious.

November 6 @ noon, Pucker Face Friday at Sessions Public
Before you head to the official San Diego Beer Week kick-off event, the always-epic San Diego Brewers Guild VIP Brewer Takeover at the Port Pavillion, swing by Sessions Public for this sour-lovers dream that will have 18 sour beers on tap from The Lost Abbey, The Bruery, Bear Republic and more. Special $50 tickets are being sold for a private tasting starting at 11 a.m., which includes commemorative glassware and two flights (four 5oz pours) of super rare sours.

November 8 @ 8:30 p.m. Fall Brewing Company Anniversary Party
Tap a nap after the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival to prepare yourself for a night out with Fall Brewing Company, which is celebrating its first anniversary with a guaranteed good time. The North Park brewery is hosting a free show at The Casbah, headlined by Mr. Tube & the Flying Objects, that will include complimentary tacos from San Diego Taco Company and a Fall tap takeover. The first 50 guests will also receive free tshirts.

November 9 @ 11 a.m., Modern Times Beer Dog Show
Head to the Quartyard in the East Village where the Point Loma-based brewery is hosting a dog show, with categories that include best costume and best celebrity lookalike; pre-register your pooches here. There will be food trucks on hand and lots of Modern Times Beer on tap.

November 9 @ 6 p.m., Brews, Views and Chews at Tom Ham's Lighthouse
This popular Beer Week event returns with live music, art and restaurant/brewery pairings that include Carnitas' Snack Shack with New English Brewing, Ballast Point at The Little Lion Cafe and Soda & Swine with Ironware Brewing Company. Tickets are $45.

November 10 @ 6 p.m., Wild Game Dinner at Ballast Point Little Italy
A Beer Week edition of Ballast Point's always-generous beer dinners features five courses of wild game, from bison carpaccio to rabbit cacciatore and juniper-dusted venison, paired with special versions of the brewery's beers and a special collaboration with Nickel Beer Co., a strong saison made with Julian honey, thyme, nutmeg and lemon.

November 11 @ 6 p.m., Almanac Tap Takeover at Neighborhood
The crew from the Bay Area's Almanac Beer Co. will be in town for a Farm-to-Hood event at the East Village beer bar with a delicious list of its rare ales and sour beers, including a ginger twist on its Golden Gate Gose, two hoppy sours and the blueberry and citrus version of Farmers Reserve. Neighborhood will also be serving beer cocktails made with spirits from Old Harbor Distilling

November 12 @ 6 and 9 p.m., Barrel Aged Beer and Single Barrel Whiskey at Bar Three Piece
Seven Grand's newly-opened whiskey-centric speakeasy will host the second annual edition of this barrel-aged beer and whiskey pairing. Tickets are $60 and there are two seatings for the pairings, which include a flight of seven whiskies and seven beers from local breweries, including Mike Hess Brewing, New English and ChuckAlek.

November 13 @ 6 p.m., Baja Beer Craft at the Mingei Museum
Baja Test Kitchen is hosting a Baja beer event in Balboa Park that will feature brewmasters from Mexico's top craft breweries, including Ceveceria Wendlandt, Agua Mala, Cerveza Fauna and more, plus Baja-inspired food from chefs Chad White and Marco Rodrigues of Tijuana's La Justina. Tickets are just $25 for non-museum members.

November 14 @ 1 p.m., Butcher's & Brewer's BBQ at The Heart & Trotter
North Park's The Heart & Trotter is pairing up with Green Flash Brewing Company for an event
priced at $20 per person that includes a housemade porchetta sandwich and two beers (Alpine Nelson and a Cellar 3 Natura Morta Plum), plus charcuterie samples and tastes of other grilled meats. There will also be a pork and beef butchering demo and and a raffle.

November 15 @ noon, Beer Garden at The Lodge at Torrey Pines
The can't-miss closing event of San Diego Beer Week, held at the stunning Lodge at Torrey Pines, pairs 24 local breweries with chefs from 12 area restaurants. Participating restaurants and breweries include AleSmith Brewing Co., The Cork and Craft, Karl Strauss Brewing Co., Tidal, Societe Brewing Company, Sea & Smoke and more.
