KINDRED Job Fair & New High Dive Menu

Plus, a Chef Showdown spectacular.

POINT LOMA— The much-anticipated KINDRED, South Park's upcoming vegan cocktail bar, is gearing up for its opening with a job fair that will be held at Modern Times Beer's Lomaland Fermatorium (3725 Greenwood Street) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 12, 13 and 15. Owner Kory Stetina is looking for cooks, bartenders and barbacks, dishwashers, servers and hosts; bring resumes and references. [EaterWire]

BAY PARK— The High Dive's recently-hired executive chef, RoseAna Peyron, just rolled out her first menu at the Morena Boulevard dive bar, which includes brand new dishes and fresh takes on old favorites. Peyron's additions range from crispy tajin-seasoned chicken skins to tacos piled with house-smoked brisket, pork or chili and pineapple-marinated grilled chicken. For breakfast, the chef is introducing the ridiculously decadent S.O.S, sourdough toast topped with shaved rib eye and a fried egg, smothered in black pepper-bone marrow gravy. [EaterWire]

NORTH EMBARCADERO— Chef Showdown, a fundraiser for Center for Community Solutions (CCS) which supports families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse, is back for its 11th year with a revamped event that will be held at the Port Pavilion at Broadway Pier on Thursday, October 29. There will be plenty of food and drinks for ticket holders, plus the opportunity to watch teams of chefs and mixologists, including Hanis Cavin from Carnitas Snack Shack, Solare Ristorante's Accursio Lota, and Lori Sauer and Stephen Kurpinsky create dishes paired with cocktails during a head-to-head culinary battle for a panel of judges.
