Touching down on the shores of Bay Park is the Poseidon Project, a new tasting bar and bottle shop that's scheduled to open next month. The retail store will stock at least 300 bottles and cans of craft beer, which can be opened and enjoyed on site, while a tasting bar will offer flights of beer from San Diego breweries and other practitioners of the craft.
The Poseidon Project also wants to delve significantly into beer education. Proprietor Justin Lopez, who was formerly the director of operations for Eat.Drink.Sleep., helped to launch Belmont Park's Cannonball and the beer-centric Draft for the group, and plans to schedule a "Craft Course" series that will range from brewer visits to food pairings and classes on beer history and brewing techniques. Designed by Rockwell Interiors, who also put together a modern lounge space for Shelter in Encinitas, the tasting room will also serve wine and have a charcuterie and cheese program.
