The San Diego Architectural Foundation just held the ceremony for its annual awards, Orchids & Onions, which honors the best and worst in design based on a jury review of public nominations in categories ranging from architecture to interior design.
The U-T has a list of this year's winners and losers, which includes several local restaurants. Kettner Exchange got the nod for best architecture while The Patio on Goldfinch and the North Park outpost of UnderBelly won Orchids for best interior design; the Quartyard shipping container park in the East Village was also honored. On the flip side, Ballast Point's Little Italy brewery restaurant was dinged for the gate and bars that border its patio, while the Gaslamp's Bargarden received an Onion for its interior design.
