Kitchen 4140's New Chef de Cuisine & The BLVD Market Anniversary Party

Plus, preview North Park's new kombucha tasting room.

BAY HO— Kitchen 4140 chef/owner Kurt Metzger, owner of Kitchen 4140, has hired on Chad Kilgore as the farm-to-table eatery's new chef de cuisine. A San Diego native and alum of the culinary arts program at the local campus of the Art Institute of California, Kilgore is a founding chef partner of Cheffin' Around: A Community of Chefs, and worked at Ruth's Chris Steak House, The Oceanaire Seafood Room and Fleming’s Steakhouse. His cooking will be featured at the restaurant's next event, an eight-course autumnal dinnercheduled for October 19 that will benefit local youth home Toussaint Academy. [EaterWire]

THE BOULEVARD— The BLVD Market, the El Cajon Boulevard pop-up food market which reoccurs every third Friday of the month and includes a cocktail lounge, the Calypso Club, is celebrating its first anniversary tomorrow, October 16 with a special "Taste of the BLVD Market" event that'll run from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets ($15 for one or two for $20) include samples from the market's food vendors, from Maine lobster and Neapolitan pizza to Latin American empanadas; call The Boulevard at 619-283-3608 to reserve tickets.
