After five years in Bankers Hill, Barrio Star will shutter this Sunday, October 18 at 3 p.m. for speedy refresh that includes design changes and concept switch. Its Latin American-influenced menu, which spans from lunch and dinner to brunch and includes tacos, tortas and signature rice bowls made with local and organic, will now be ordered via fast-casual style counter service versus traditional table service.
Executive chef/founder Isabel Cruz and co-owner Todd Camburn are scheduled to reopen the colorful Dia de los Muertos-inspired eatery on Thursday, October 22. Along with the new quick-service, easy-ordering set up, the restaurant will also undergo a design revamp, which includes the addition of large garage doors that open up onto Fifth Avenue.
