Foie Gras Burgers; A Beer and Donut Pairing Party; Bellefleur Shutters

Slaters 50/50 debuts a foie gras burger this weekend, Nomad Donuts throws a party with beer and Bellefleur closes.

LIBERTY STATION— Liver lovers can get their newly-legal fix with a foie gras burger launching Saturday at Slater’s 50/50, made with peppered brandt beef, foie gras, onion marmalade, white cheddar, onion strings, grain mustard and arugula on a brioche bun. Sibling S&M will also serve a foie gras plate starting tomorrow. In other legal liver news, The Patio on Goldfinch has foie gras torchon on the menu tonight, according to an afternoon tweet. UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS— New sweet tooth stop Nomad Donuts is having a booze-infused official grand opening party on Sunday, January 25. Neighbor Fall Brewing will host the fete from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. with beer and donut specials. Celebrate with mini donut flights paired with (and made with) beer from Fall Brewing. Nomad will be open for regular hours during the party, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. [EaterWire]

CARLSBAD— Longtime brunch destination the Bellefleur Restaurant at Carlsbad Premium Outlets mall abruptly closed last week after 17 years in business, reports the U-T. Winemakers Martha and John Culbertson opened the upscale 10,000-square-foot restaurant  at 5610 Paseo Del Norte in October 1997. The exact reason for the closure and future plans for the space are unclear. [U-T]
