Play With One of These Cats (And Maybe Adopt One?) While Drinking Coffee

San Diego's first Cat Cafe is now open.

Continuing with our cat theme today, we can't believe we missed the grand debut of The Cat Cafe, which soft opened just before the holidays.

This week, the downtown feline hotspot settled into its regular operating hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Owner Tony Wong welcomed his first group of cats-in-residence from the San Diego Humane Society; he's calling them "The Fab Five" and their profiles can be found on the cafe's website.

While other cat cafe locations around the globe are charging an admission fee for entry, The Cat Cafe only requires that customers purchase coffee (including espresso from Cafe Virtuoso), soda or a snack before they play with the cats. The idea is to stop by for some cat therapy and maybe take a new friend home.
