More Craft-Your-Own, Lightning-Fast Pizza

PizzaRev bakes up a San Diego expansion.

Another Los Angeles-based company is about to enter the San Diego market to add to our booming quick-service pizza landscape.

PizzaRev, which was launched in 2012, has announced that it will open two local franchises in March, at 10393 Spring Canyon Road in Scripps Ranch and 7835 Highlands Village Place in Carmel Valley.

The build-your-own artisanal pizza concept, which runs on custom-built, 900-degree stone hearth ovens that bake the pies to a crisp in less than three minutes, has 20 locations in Southern California.

The interactive pizzas starts with an 11-inch original or gluten-free crust that gets spread with one of four sauces, including organic tomato or creamy alfredo. Next comes cheese and a choice from over 30 toppings, ranging from fennel sausage to fresh arugula; feel free to pile on the ingredients, since all pizzas are $8.25 no matter the number of components. There are also already-composed pizzas, from BBQ chicken to classic margherita, plus DIY salads.

The San Diego locations, of which more are planned, will offer draft and bottled craft beers from local breweries.
