OB People's Market to Branch Out With Sit-Down Vegetarian Eatery

The organic market plans for expansion.

Ocean Beach People's Organic Food Market, a member-supported co-op that sells local and organic produce and grocery items, has been in operation since 1972.

In recent years, the market outgrew its 6,000-square-footspace and had been searching for sites outside of the neighborhood, but the San Diego Free Press says that the co-op has purchased two plots on the other side of its existing parking lot for its expansion plans.

The market current operates a full-service deli, but they will reportedly build a new sit-down vegetarian restaurant and juice bar on the new property, plus add more parking.

The timeline for the expansion is currently in flux, due to the recent passing of the owner of one of the properties, but the San Diego Free Press indicates that the original plan has OB People's taking hold of the land in 2016.
