Lucha Libre Pins North Park for Second Taco Shop

Lucha Libre, the gourmet taco shop with a Mexican wrestler theme that first opened on Washington Street in 2008, is expanding into North Park.

Luca Libre recently debuted its food in Petco Park, but the company has been searching for a second brick-and-mortar location for some time; owner Jose Luis Rojano-Garcia, who went to St. Augustine High School in North Park along with his brothers/business partners, said he's excited to get back into the neighborhood.

Lucha Libre Taco Shop #2 is taking over Marie's Cafe, the University Avenue diner, this week to begin a remodel that should be completed by early 2015. Expect the design to include their signature pink, lucha libre memorabilia, and a reservation-only Champion's Booth.

They'll be applying for a beer and wine license, and though the menu will be similar to their original location, the brothers are playing with the idea of adding a couple North Park specials.
