MISSION HILLS— The Patio on Goldfinch has special food and beverage pairing planned for an event on Tuesday, September 30. The five course dinner from chef John Medall starts at 5:30 p.m. with a welcome cocktail; each dish will have a type of caviar, from salmon to osetra, accompanied by tequila pairings from resident tequila expert Chris Simmons. TIJUANA— The annual Tijuana Innovadora conference, with this year's keynote speaker Rudy Guiliani, has a fun food component scheduled for October 18 and 19Battalia Culinaria, hosted by chefs Javier Plascencia, Chad White and Miguel Ángel Guerrero, will pit two teams of chefs from both side of the border against each other in a friendly cooking competition. Tickets to be in the audience for each battle are $30.
