Significant restaurant projects are continuing to stack up in Little Italy. The latest big-name concept to target the neighborhood is Café Gratitude, which will take up residence as the 4,000-square-foot anchor tenant in the new mixed-use Broadstone Little Italy building on Kettner, where it will join The Cheese Store of San Diego.
The popular eatery, which serves 100% organic plant-based vegan food, is known for a menu that names dishes after affirmations; diners order by saying "I am Fabulous" or I am Fulfilled". According to their website, the business practices "Sacred Commerce", saying that they "view our restaurants as environments to not only serve healthy food, but also training grounds to practice seeing our lives from a perspective of gratitude."
Café Gratitude, which counts Oceanside-based singer-songwriter Jason Mraz as one of its partners, already has multiple locations around the country including Santa Cruz, Berkeley and two outposts in the Los Angeles area. The San Diego restaurant will reportedly open in early 2015.
