After a considerable search, the iconic Hotel del Coronado has announced there's been a new chef chosen to head up the kitchen at the resort's signature restaurant, 1500 OCEAN.
Meredith Manee replaces former chef de cuisine Robert Hohmann, who left the post last fall. Manee, a classically-trained chef who went through the California School of Culinary Arts' Le Cordon Bleu program, will now oversee the fine dining restaurant as well as the adjacent Sunset Bar under the direction of the hotel's exec chef John Shelton.
Manee's no stranger to running hotel restaurants, having spent her entire professional career working in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts from Denver to Hawaii and LA. The chef, who has roots in Santa Barbara and traditional Italian cuisine, will roll out a new California Coastal menu next month that'll revolve around the Del's on-site garden and seasonal produce from local farmers.
