Here's more intel on the wine bar that's in the works for Little Italy. Ruth Melero, who ran a retail shop, Melero Boutique & Gallery, in the space for the last five years, tells Eater that she decided to convert the store into a bar to keep up with the neighborhood's growing reputation as a dining destination.
The 825-square-foot space, a 1888 Gothic Victorian house, will be remodeled but kept in an antique style; scheduled to open by October, Melero says the wine focus of the bar will change every three or four months to revolve around a different global wine region. M Winehouse will serve mimosas and sangria on weekends and carry glasses of pricey champagne usually only sold in bottles. She hopes the bar will be an appealing pre-and-post dinner stop, so food offerings, from cheese to olives, will be light. The space will be available for private events, with regular acoustic music programming.
