Thai Restaurant Adds New Location, Expands Original

A kind reader sent us a snap of the storefront of Chi Kitchen, the new sister eatery of Plumeria, a Thai restaurant in University Heights.

Plumeria's menu is vegetarian and vegan, but owner Pimwara Thongchua, who also runs The Asian Bistro in Hillcrest, says that though Chi Kitchen's cuisine will also be primarily vegetarian with a focus on organic produce, locally grown when available, it won't be limited to Thai food. The menu will be on the healthy side, with some fish and chicken options and Asian inspired dishes.

Chi Kitchen won't be ready until later this year but Thongchua is expanding Plumeria next month, having taken over the Park Boulevard space vacated by American Voodoo, the short-lived Southern-tinged food spot that opened next door last fall and shuttered earlier this year. The extension will allow the Thai eatery to expand their kitchen and add more seating.
