URBN Street Brewing Co., a partnership between former Stone Brewing Co. head chef Alex Carballo and restaurateur Jon Mangini, just emerged from a makeover that aligns the look of the 4,000-square-foot East County brewpub with Mangini's other eateries (URBN North Park and Vista, BASIC).
There's a new glassed-in kitchen and oven for URBN's signature pizzas that anchor the menu; Carballo says that he'll plan to add more dishes here and at their Vista and North Park locations.
The in-house beers from brewer Callaway Ryan include four core house beers and other specials (an ESB and a barrel-aged program are in the works); the rest of the 40 taps will be filled by guest breweries, including East County compatriots Alpine Beer Company and Butcher's Brewing.
Carballo says that URBN is already outgrowing their current 15-barrel brewhouse; plans are underway to bottle beer and search for another production brewery. He plans to use a private dining area in the brewpub to host special beer dinners and regular beer education events.
