2014 will be big for Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. With a second coffee bar scheduled to open in Little Italy this year, founder Chuck Patton says that the company has long outgrown their original roastery on La Jolla Boulevard.
With that in mind, Bird Rock has signed the lease on a 3,000-square-foot space that will serve as a new roasting facility, more than doubling their roasting capacity. Patton says the building will also house a state-of-the-art training lab for their employees and wholesale customers, plus allow the coffee experts to make espresso and coffee brewing classes available to the public.
Bird Rock hopes to have the new facility online by October; by winter, 500-square-feet of the space should be transformed into their third coffee bar, offering pour over coffee and espresso, plus retail sales of their wholebean coffee.
