UK-Based Milkshake Bar Expands Into San Diego

New, 1 comment

With over 30 stores across the United Kingdom, ShakeAway is the world's largest milkshake bar company and self-proclaimed "original re-inventor of milkshakes".

The international company, which also has stores in Mexico and the Middle East, will open its first US stores, both in San Diego, this weekend. More expansion is planned in Georgia and New York City.

Their La Jolla shop (723 Pearl St.) soft opens on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with an appearance by pro skateboarder Tony Hawk from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; on Saturday, they launch a 1,000-square-foot Pacific Beach store (909 Grand Ave.) at 10:30 a.m. with a contest, live DJ, street art exhibit and pro skater showcase. At both locations, the first 50 guests will receive a free milkshake.

The menu revolves around made-to-order milkshakes with a ridiculous amount of add-in options, including candy, cakes, chocolates, cereal and fresh fruit. There's also frozen yogurt, smoothies, frozen slushies and French fries meant for milkshake-dipping.
