Mike Hess Brewing Co. is throwing a big block party July 19 to celebrate turning four, and 11 guest breweries and two bands are invited. Founder Greg Hess says it seems like yesterday he was brewing up small batches at the original Miramar Road locale, growing from a 20-gallon system to North Park's 30bbl brewhouse. General admission to Hess Fest includes unlimited samples from 30 different beers and food tasters for $40. Part of ticket proceeds go to Friends of Jefferson Elementary and It's All About the Kids.
