Sausage Fest; Extended Bastille Day Dinner

GASLAMP— Start saving room now: On July 16, ten of the city's meat masters will try to smoke the competition for the best sausage in town at Jsix. Chefs will enter their favorite sausage recipes, from Chorizo to Bratwurst, to feed the public for a winning vote. Sausage Fest bands start at $10 and include liters of beer, a take home mug, Lost Abbey "The Road to Helles" brew and live entertainment by The Tighten Ups. [EaterWire]

MISSION HILLS— Mission Hills' Patio on Goldfinch is keeping the Bastille Day party going with a Vive la France-themed wine dinner tonight and Tuesday night from guest chef Oliver Bioteau. The international chef got his start in France's Loire Valley before moving stateside to work at San Diego's A.R. Valentien and Farm House Cafe. His five-course fete costs $95. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE— Kids (and adults) can learn a thing or two about nutritious eating this weekend at SMARTS Farm. Nonprofit Humane Smart's community garden and education center at 15th and F will host Butterflies and Camels, an educational event about animals, planting and harvesting on July 19 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets include craft beer, food, camels and hayrides.
