Beach Town Gets New Baja-Inspired Oyster & Sushi Bar

Readers asked us to get the scoop on Bird Rock Oyster & Sushi Bar, which is taking over the La Jolla Boulevard space most recently occupied by Station Sushi.

Gabriel Uribe, who owns Baja Oyster & Sushi Bar in Imperial Beach, is expanding into Bird Rock with a 52-seat restaurant that will have a dog-friendly patio. Uribe told Eater that the menu will be similar to the original restaurant, which mixes Mexican-influenced sushi with authentic mariscos dishes and oysters in a variety of preparations, from raw to grilled, stuffed and fried.

When the Bird Rock location opens in July for lunch and dinner, Uribe says that he'll also serve Mexican fusion tacos, salads and hamburgers and stock the bar with everything from local craft beer to Japanese beer and sake.
