The San Diego County Chapter of the California Restaurant Association (CRA) hosted its annual Gold Medallion Awards gala earlier this week and handed out honors to industry members. Among the winners were NINE-TEN's Jason Knibb, who scored as Chef of the Year, and Sami Ladeki from the Ladeki Restaurant Group (Sammy's Woodfired Pizza and Grill), who was awarded Restaurateur of the Year. Others recognized included Blue Ribbon Artisan Pizza for Best Pizza, CUCINA urbana for Best Italian Fine Dining and Bo-Beau Kitchen & Garden for Best New Restaurant. [EaterWire]
