Japanese cuisine is one of San Diego's strong suits, so we were excited to hear from a tipster that a new contender has opened in Serra Mesa (3298 Greyling Drive). Kokoro restaurant's exec chef Akio Ishito owned a successful eatery in LA and was head chef at Robata-ya Oton; his menu ranges from sushi and sashimi to grilled robata yaki and various noodle dishes.
