Babycakes San Diego, the cupcake shop and coffee bar which opened six years ago on 5th Avenue in Hillcrest, is expanding. Owner Christopher Stavros and pastry chef Rafael Del Rio are opening a new location in Imperial Beach; Babycakes Bake Shop & Coffee House (874 Seacoast Drive) will open near the new Pier South Resort later this month.
