After a few sneak previews, Florent Restaurant & Lounge has softly opened in the Gaslamp; here's a peek inside.
The former Jimmy Love's was transformed by designer Michael Soriano, who says there are a few finishing touches still in store. The main street level room is dotted with seating areas, from banquette seating to oversized booths, and two bars will fuel the crowds when a section of the space goes from dining to dancing. A downstairs lounge has an old timey gangster theme.
Exec chef/partner Rich Sweeney put together a "social dining" menu of shareable plates that reinterprets classic duck a l'orange into meatballs and glazes pork belly with vanilla and bourbon. Florent's open for dinner, and starts brunch this weekend.
