North Park's Got a New Scoop Shop

A reader shared the news that Hammond's Gourmet Ice Cream shop soft opened last week in North Park, just in time for summer.

The University Avenue scoop shop, opened by North Park residents Ryan and Trang Hammond and Daniel Szpak, features a wall of vintage ice cream scoops, a chandelier made from glass sundae cups and a communal table carved from a local fallen tree. They carry a rotating selection of 32 flavors (28 super premium ice creams and 4 sorbets) from the Hawaii-based Tropical Dreams; flavors range from passionfruit cream and toasted coconut to Kona coffee and green tea.

Szpak told Eater their mini-cone ice cream flights, in three to six different flavors, have proved popular; a grand opening is scheduled for this Saturday, June 14, starting at 1 p.m., with special discounts for customers.
