Malahat Spirits Co. hasn't opened their tasting room yet, but the local distillery has already won and award, picking up a gold medal for their Spiced Rum at the recent 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits also racked up a slew of medals in the competition, including Best in Show/double gold medals for their Devil's Share Single Malt Whiskey and Mai Tai Mix. [EaterWire]
