A kind tipster gave us the advance scoop on yet another Japanese restaurant group headed to San Diego. According to their website, JINYA Ramen Bar, which has several outposts in the U.S. and Canada, is planning a new location in Hillcrest.
The ramen bar, which Eater LA named among the best ramen shops and made Eater NY's Robert Sietsema's favorite dishes of 2013, specializes in tonkotsu-style ramen that employs a rich broth of long-simmered pork bones, but also serves chicken ramen and a pork-and-chicken broth blend.
Though there's no word yet on when the 2,000-square-foot space will be up and running, Eater's hearing whispers that the company may also be looking to bring Robata JINYA, its izakaya-style concept, to San Diego.
